Sinus lifts are beneficial and often necessary surgical operations for a lot of people, especially for those who are getting dental implants.

If you are getting a dental implant, raising your sinus by putting a strong support or foundation there will make it a safer and more effective operation. This is a great way for your dental implants to last longer and give you more bang for your buck.

What is a Sinus Lift?

What a sinus lift will do is to add a bone or a set of bones in the zone where the molars and premolars are in the upper jaw. This kind of operation is called a sinus lift due to the fact that the said bone is added in the middle of your jaw and the maxillary sinuses, which can either be the left or right part of your nose.

So that there will be enough space for the bones and sometimes bones, the sinus membrane has to move up. This means the there is a lifting of your sinus.

Why Should I Get Dental Implants in the First Place?

Dental implants, like sinus lifts, are extremely important to the oral and dental health of those who have lost a permanent tooth or teeth. This may have happened due to an accident, or an injury. Also, some periodontal diseases cause people to lose their teeth permanently.

Dental implants are done usually through two main techniques, which are the Endosteal, or in the bone, and the Subperiosteal, or on the bone.

Endosteal dental implants are the most common procedure and these are done for those who have bridges or dentures that can be removed. The Subperiosteal is for those who do not wear any bridges or dentures.

For those who are thinking about getting a sinus lift or dental implants, do not worry. Give us a visit and we can talk to you about how to proceed better.
